Happy Passover From The Adams Street Shul

Toast Marshmallows While You Burn Your Chametz!

On your most hectic day of the year, why trek to Brighton to safely burn your chametz? This year you can do it with the Adams Street Shul right here in Newton!

In partnership with the Newton Fire Department, we will be safely toasting kosher marshmallows and burning chametz.

The historic Adams Street Shul was already world-famous in Newton. Now you have one more reason to visit!

On Friday, April 11, we will be open from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. (The last time to own chametz is 11:39 AM.)  Come on over!

Are you a Zionist?

Save the date and join us, either in person at the Shul or online via zoom, on Sunday May 27th  at 11am, as Brandeis University scholar Gilad Cohen presents “The Clash of the Early Zionists”.

If you are familiar with Zionism's popular history, but open to critically assessing your ideas and opinions in light of academic sources, you will find this an engaging event.

Admission is free. Tickets are required.  Donations are welcome.  To reserve your ticket, or for more information about the presentation and the speaker, visit  https://zionists.EventBrite.com

Purim Thanks
Thank you to all who made made this year's heimish Purim Party happen:

  • Rustin Shenkman did all the event shopping and set up, administered our participation in the Yad Chesed program, and he even baked the tasty hamantaschen himself in the shul kitchen!
  • Jeremy Friedman acted with grace and humor in the skit.
  • Jordan Wagner procured the services of Rabbi Schmerl of Chelm, who was our scholar-in-residence this Purim.  He also led a sing-a-long of Purim songs with guitar.
  • Thanks also to Tzvi Rubinstein, who brought his accordion but unfortunately had to leave before the party got to the musical component. We look forward to hearing him play at another event soon.
  • Also, congratulations to the Klompas kids, who won the Purim Trivia Contest.  They were brilliant!.

 First Third Meal
Last Saturday we enjoyed our first Third Meal of the year.  Many thanks to the Fleischmann family for sponsoring it, and to Benyomin Fleischmann for delivering inspiring words of Torah.  This week's third meal is still available to sponsor. Contact treasurer@AdamsStreet.org to sponsor it with your $36 donation.  It's a lovely way to honor someone, celebrate a simcha, or memorialize a loved one. .

The Adams Street Shul is a warm and friendly modern Orthodox shul that serves a diverse congregation.  We provide a place for prayer, learning, and spiritual growth, and a social environment where we foster a strong sense of community.
