The Adams Street Shul

Congregation Agudas Achim Anshei Sfard

The Rabbinic Search Committee is pleased to announce that it has selected three exceptional candidates for the position of our next rabbi at the Adams Street Shul.

We have scheduled three Probeh (audition) weekends.  Each candidate will join our community with his family for a Friday night, Shabbat morning, and Sunday morning event:

(Click each candidate's name for their biography)

February 5-7:
Rabbi Eliezer Bercuson

March 11-13:
Rabbi Max Davis

March 18-20:
Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe

We will all have an opportunity to meet and hear each candidate in both formal and informal settings.

We ask that you plan to attend as many events on these weekends as possible, to ensure that you can contribute to this important decision for the future growth of our shul.

In anticipation of these visits, a special email address has been created:

Please use this email address to:

1) submit questions that you would like to ask the visiting candidates or their wives.  We plan to show the questions to the rabbis in advance, and to ask the same questions of all candidates.

2) to indicate which Friday night dinner (please see below) you would like to attend.

On each Probeh weekend, we will host a Friday night dinner at a private home with the rabbinic candidate, his family, and members of our community.

All dinners are free of charge.  The four dinners are scheduled as follows:

February 5
Rabbi Eliezer and Mrs. Ilana Bercuson, hosted by Aryeh and Nechama Cheses (67 Walnut Street, Newton 02460)

March 11
Rabbi Max and Mrs. Dalia Davis, hosted by David Jacobson and Shelly Greene (79 Langdon Street, Newton 02458)

March 18
Rabbi Shlomo and Mrs. Chani Yaffe, hosted by Rabbi Shlomo and Chani Yaffe (69 Silver Lake Avenue Newton 02458)

Seating is limited, but we hope to accommodate each member of the congregation for at least one Friday night dinner.

Please indicate your top three (3) dinner preferences as soon as possible by sending them to the email address listed above.

Thank you for your help as we look forward to this very exciting time for our community!
