seder plateTo me, the Seder is one of the most unique and sublime experiences of our entire Jewish tradition. We do not study history and relate what transpired in the past. We are asked to actually feel as if each and every one of us personally experienced those great moments of the Exodus.

Shofar2.gifAs the Shofar is again heard in the mornings, heralding the approach of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the thoughts of every sensitive Jew turn inward.  What are our true responsibilities in life and are we living up to our potential?

It was on this day, many years apart, that both Holy Temples were destroyed; the Jewish people were expelled from Spain in 1492; and that World War I, marking the beginning of continual conflicts, broke out.

It is Thursday, May 1 – Yom Hashoah. A short while ago, I stood at the Kotel with my daughter. At exactly 10:00 A.M., sirens sounded throughout Israel. No one moved – not a sound was heard. Cars stopped on the streets. People in buses stood.
